Rating highly rated restaurants in Paris France

For my close friends birthday in Paris i booked all the best restaurants for the trip! This was a special occasion and our first time in Paris so i wanted to try only the best spots. I did all the research so you wont have to. Here are a list of highly rated restaurants in Paris France and how i would rate them. Highly rated or overrated ? We’ll see.

Bouillon Chartier grand Boulevards

My recommended first stop for anyone visiting Paris for the first time. This is a great introductory place to french cuisine for multiple reasons. This restaurant has been around since 1896 renowned for it’s affordability. Not only is it cheap but also delicious. This long-standing restaurant was on so many must try places to eat lists but the real reason this place caught my eye was the building itself. The building resembles and old railway station, as a train fan i just had to go. The atmosphere is beautiful. Everything was simple fast and affordable making it a great first stop. it’s very popular so anticipate a wait. We waited around 20 minutues to be seated. The waitor comes by and writes your order right there on the table clothe. When i think of Paris i think upscale adn expensive so it was nice to have amazing french cusine in a more laid back setting that still had the elegant charm. This is where we decided to try escargo (snails) for the first time. I absolutely loved them! After this, i wanted them at every restaurant. We also got the infamous steak frits nothikng to write home about), Oven baked bream with potatoes, green beans and dessert. I think our favorite this other than the snails was just the bred and cheese selections.

Angelina (cart)

Legendary Taste of Parisian Elegance
Since 1903 the iconic restaurant Angelina exudes an air of timeless charm and culinary excellence. It was a hard decision to make but i decided to do tea time at a differnt place. Angelina is famous for its signature hot chocolate, velvety, decadent concoction that has earned the admiration of both locals and tourists alike. And also, thier sweets which i knew would could get via take away so i decided to skip out on dining in. Near the Louvre Museum we lined up for a taste of thier famous hot chocolate and also a crossant at their cart situated outside of the restaurant. The hot chocolate was well worth the hype and fro the peak i took inside this place looked amazing.

On our last day we visited the Palace of Versilles and while looking for anything to eat inside we discovered theres an Angelina located inside. We were very excited since we didn’t get the chance to dine at. We waited around 35 minutes which was nothing considering theres pretty much nothing to eat once you get inside. This experience was very interesting for me. I’ve always heard french people were rude, but for my entire trip they were nothing but nice to me as long as i was respectful first. The waiter here was the only exception. He kept picking on me and making fun of me but in a rude way. Also i didn’t know this man so jokes like those are reserved for family and friends and didn’t come off well at all. Although i was with my two friends he continued to be very nice to them and very rude to me. It got me so upset i told them about it but they said he’s just joking. None of it felt like a joke and it continued the entire time i was there. We of course got hot chocolate again but it wasn’t as good as their other locations. In edition all the food we got i didn’t like, so much so i think two things i couldn’t even eat. The menu was very limited. Please don’t order the soup. The presentation was so interesting, it came out dry and later the demon-waiter came by to pour in liquid ( turning it into soup) it was nasty. The Black waiter was very kind and made the awful experience a bit better. Theres nothing else to eat in the Palace of versille so eat before hand and if you want to try angelinas definitely skip this particular location.

Le cafe Marly

I thought i’d follow up with the other infamous, well know upscale french restaurant thats was also… a waist of time. Le Cafe Marly the beautiful open-air arched passageway restaurant located right outside The Louvre with stuffing views of the museum. This place is expensive. I was really looking forward to this place and booked months in advance. Sadly whne arriving the staff was just awful. The femal staff didn’t sem to care about their jobs at all and beiing such a renounded and expesive place i definitely expected better service. We were seated in a spot where, you guessed it.. we couldn’t see the louvre making the entire visit meaningless. We did ask if we could be seated in one of the other open spots that had a view but the staff said it was taken. i will say it seemed almost as if they only highered good looking male servers so at least there was something to look at with our meals. Luckily the food was amazing! Very small portions and very expensive but delicious none the less. Overall you can see that same louvre view for free right outside. For the cost and service honestly, i’d skip this place unless you come for just drinks and somehow manage to get a nice seat.

Le Basilic

This was my favorite place of the entire trip! From start to finish the experience was amazing. I wasn’t expecting much from this place at all. It wasn’t one of the super famous places but they had great rating and did birthday plates so i wanted to go. OUTSTANDING. They serve traditional local french cusine in a charming old-world establishment. The outside of the building is beautifully covered in vines and the inside is cozy and inviting. The food was amazing. We had two differnt snails dishes and many other items. The best part however was the staff. They were such a elight and truly made the night special as a birthday celebartion should be. They brought out a birthday plate for my firends and even sang happy birthday. it was very difficult finishing restaurants that had birthfsy plates in Paris so they fact that they also sang for me was very kind. An amazing atmosphere, good food and good people it doesn’t get better.

Le Bristol Cafe Antonia

Le Bristol Café Antonias Afternoon Tea: A Delightful Parisian Indulgence. This was by far the fanciest of places we visited on this trip.
If you find yourself strolling through the romantic streets of Paris, seeking an exquisite and quintessentially French experience, look no further than Le Bristol Café Antonias Afternoon Tea. Nestled in the heart of the city, this charming café has elegance, tradition, and innovative culinary expertise to offer a truly unforgettable tea-time experience. The main reasoni booked this place was for the outstanding old world decor. The furnishins and details are just beautiful and perfect for a birthday or special occasion. This is definitely the place to be if you’d like to take classy photos. I booked everything online (in fgrench) just used google translate. They were very kin and accommodating online and in person.
They have an extensive tea menu, featuring an impressive array of handpicked teas from around the world and a delectable assortment of sweet and savory treats. It was also engaging by allowing us to see samples of the pastries and pick out a delicately crafted item for ourselves. I ordered the best afternoon tea sets for my two freinds and i got a simpler version. We absolutly couldn’t finish it all. This place was beautifull and the peak of elegance. I’d say well worth the price.

La Masion Rose

The number one place i was looking forward to visiting and it did not dissapoint. If you’ve had any interest in Paris you’ve probably seen or heard of this infamous restaurant. La Maison Rose: A Timeless Parisian Haven. Nestled in Montmartre, this enchanting café charms with its pink facade and vintage ambience. The signature pink building has really helped it to stand out. Once a haven for artists like Picasso, it continues to captivate with the aroma of pastries and lively conversations. This place must be book online in advance. It’s very small inside making for limited slots. Sadly we visited in November andit was too cold to sit outside but in warmer months the side walk is linned with a few tables and the atmosphere looks amazing. We booked the first slot for brunch and after arriving they were running late to open. However the staff was some of the most amazing fun people we met on the entire trip. I’m unsure but i beelive the owner was there and his words were” why did you hurry, don’t you know this is France? We are never on time.” After being seated we had some great food and the staff continued to be so awesome and welocming. It felt like family. I mentioned while booking we’re celebrating a birthday and we went out of his way to bring out cake with a candle and sing happy birthday. It was a lovely experience. I like to try many different things whne i travel but when i’m back in Paris i will be here again!

Pastry Cyril Lignac- Chaillot

A beautiful surprise! While walking we decided to get a small snack before Lunch. I noticed a spot i had saved was near by so we went there not really expecting or knowing anything. This random unplanned visit happened to be the best pastries we had on the entire trip!. I wasn’t until much later we discovered, this little spot i saved was actually quite famous. Located in the elegant neighborhood of Chaillot, the renowned Pastry Cyril Lignac Chaillot has earned its place as a culinary gem that continues to enchant locals and visitors alike. This charming patisserie showcases the unmatched artistry and refined craftsmanship of acclaimed pastry chef Cyril Lignac. With a legacy stretching back several decades, it’s no wonder Pastry Cyril Lignac Chaillot is so perfect. We tried a variety of items. One mysterious black pastry was recommended to me, by the looks it wouldn’t be something i’d normally pick. I’m so glad i did! It ended up being the best dessert item i’ve ever tried and i couldn’t even identify one ingredient. They all blended together so well and yet had such range: crunchy, creamy , soft and velvety. It’s a must try if you come to Paris. In additional, the staff was amazing! Very kind and helpful to us and even charged us less because we didn’t have exact change teh staff said it’s ok just take it, don’t worry about it. This touched me so much, i hope everyone comes to support this amazing establishment!

Bateaux Parisiens

If you visit Paris you may have of dream of sailing down the seine river. I thought this iconic dinner cruise was a must do item for the birthday trip celebration. Bateaux Parisiens offers an enchanting dinner or lunch cruise experience in the heart of Paris. As the sun sets over the iconic Seine River, we embarked on a journey of elegance and indulgence. The sleek, glass-enclosed boat glides past the city's most magnificent landmarks, such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral, creating a picturesque backdrop for a sumptuous feast. The serve favious French cuisines accompanied by wines and some boats even have live music. My thoughts: It was ghetto. But luckily the entire experience is so impressive you wouldn’t notice. I thought nearly everything could’ve been done better. The website and booking experience is very bad. Finding the actual location is also pretty difficult so be sure to leave yourself enough time. Checking in had me wonderinging if we were even at the right place. There are so many cruises and boats. It’s a shame you don’t really know which one you’ll be on until you get there. Be sure to pay extra to sit by the window it is just beautiful. The trip felt short, the staff was very inexperienced. Although this was a set course there seemed to be a lot of confusion amoungst them. In my opinion the food was slight better than bad. It was a bit pricey for 3 people since i paid myself howevr i think the price is fair. This is definitely a must for couples! The romance in the atmosphere is unmatched. It would be nice to have more time and enjoy a full bottle of wine while enjoying the sights. I’d recommend going at night so you don’t miss the sparkling eiffel tower. Although the booking, staff, and food wern’t great i’d actually still recommend.
